Snohomish County is the third largest and among the fastest growing counties in Washington State. The county is located immediately north of King County (Seattle) and has a total area of 2,196 square miles, with 2,089 square miles covering land and 107 square miles covering water.

There are 30 fire agencies operating within the boundaries of Snohomish County. Fire departments operate with personnel ranging from an all career staff, to a combination, to an all volunteer staff. Each fire department provides emergency medical services ranging from Basic Life Support (BLS) to Advanced Life Support (ALS).
