Current Hazardous Materials Team Member Count: 115
Seven jurisdictions in Snohomish County have come together to create a regional hazardous materials response team to better serve their respective communities. A response to a hazardous materials emergency requires specialized resources which are often too much for any one agency to handle alone. By combining these resources into a single service delivery team, duplication can be reduced while resources are pooled to provide the most seamless and efficient response possible.
The team is made up from 120 fire officers and firefighters who have been trained to the Hazardous Materials Technician level. With 4 response units, they provide service to Snohomish County to assist with tasks such as product identification, risk assessment, plugging/patching, decontamination and other related hazardous materials related duties.
